Praveen Sharma, a UK Chartered Accountant, is the global leader of the Insurance Regulatory & Tax Consulting Practice at Marsh. Praveen is responsible for providing multinational companies with relevant information on insurance regulations and tax that could impact on their global insurance arrangements and risk financing structures.
He has considerable experience in dealing with accounting, regulatory and corporate and premium tax issues relating to captive insurance companies, non-life insurance companies, local authorities and Lloyd’s members. He has extensive experience in identifying accounting, regulatory, corporate and premium tax issues affecting risk financing arrangements, reorganisation of insurance and Lloyd’s members, cross border transactions, repatriation of funds and global insurance policies.
He also has considerable experience in the provision of accounting, regulatory and tax information on alternative risk solutions including finite (re)insurance contracts, securitisation and strategic risk management programmes for local authorities, multi-national groups and insurance companies. He has been involved in advising multi-national groups, particularly those based within the EU, on the implications of the applicable International Accounting Standards, Insurance Regulations and International Corporate Taxation.
He presents regularly at international trade conferences and has written a number of articles on accounting, corporate and premium tax issues affecting captives, multinational companies, non-life insurance companies, Lloyd’s members and alternative risk transfer solutions.
Prior to joining Marsh in 2008, he was Head of Regulatory and Compliance at Aon Global Risk Consulting since October 2001. Previous to that Praveen was a Tax Senior Manager in the insurance tax department of KPMG for 13 years.
