
Heljo Laukkala
Heljo Laukkala has a vast experience of developing risk management in large
international government and corporate entities. Heljo very successfully integrated traditional insurance and risk management as well as corporate security and safety to serve the needs of today´s modern enterprise risk management requirements. COSO-ERM as well as ISO3100 are the backbone of his structured approaches and he has successfully implemented these frameworks into the daily operations of his employers.
His opinions are frequently requested both from the business media and his colleagues in other companies. Among insurance companies and insurance brokers his exemplary leadership is also widely recognized and he serves as a beacon for good risk management, internal control and corporate governance in the European Risk Management Community.
From 1995 to 1997 Heljo was Security and military advisor to United Nations Special Rapporteur on Human Rights in Former Yugoslavia (acting for the Finnish Ministry of Defense and Finnish Foreign Ministry), and in 1998 – 1999 he was a Special Assistant to the Special Representative of United Nations Secretary General in Bosnia and Herzegovina (United Nations Mission in Bosnia and Herzegovina). In 1999 Heljo was Security and Logistics Co-coordinator in Balkan Stability Pact.
He won the FERMA Risk ManagerLifetime acheviement award in 2016.
